Rabbi Hayon is the Senior Rabbi of Congregation Emanu El, Houston’s largest Reform synagogue. He has held several national leadership roles in the Jewish community, having served as vice president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, as a member of the Editorial Board of the Reform Jewish Quarterly, and as an editor, translator, and contributor of Hebrew texts and poetry for multiple books and journals.
In addition to his congregational work, he is proud of his involvement in the leadership of numerous interfaith, academic, and social service organizations in Houston.
Rabbi Hayon received his undergraduate education at Rice University and his rabbinical ordination from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
